Statue of Lord Shiva
A huge towering statue of Lord Shiva, visible from great distances, is present in the temple complex. It is the second tallest statue of Lord Shiva in the world. The statue is 123 feet (37 m) in height and took about two years to build. The statue was built by Kashinath and several other sculptors, financed by businessman and philanthropist Dr. R.N. Shetty, at a cost of approximately 50 million. The idol is designed such that it gets the sunlight directly and thus appears sparkling.

How to reach?
Pune to Murudeshwar (12-13 hrs) / Mumbai to Murudeshwar (15-17 hrs) (via bus), Once you reach there, You can get the auto from the main gate (5 mins to temple and hotel).
If you go via train - At a distance of 2 km from Murudeshwar Railway Station.
Where to find good restaurants?
The restaurant is also nearby which serves good south Indian food. Beach, market everything is within walking distance.

Day1 - Reach a beautiful place, relax for an hour, and enjoy the beautiful view of the sea, temple, and garden from your hotel.
After relaxing you can go and visit the Shiv temple.
- Murdeshwar Temple - A beautiful stretch of green lawns. visiting times are 3 AM - 1 PM and 3 PM - 8 PM. Visit the complete area of the Murdeshwar lawn, temple, statue.
- You can get a lift to go at the high point of the main door of the temple, the charges are around 10rs to lift.
- Lord Shiva Statue - 15m tall statue of Shiva.
- Below the Shivaji statue, there is the complete story about the temple in form of stone sculpture.
- Murudeshwar temple is one of the Pancha Kshetra of the state, and the four other being Dharmasthala, Nanjanagud, Gokarna and Dhareshwara.

- A prominent beach situated along the Arabian Sea, a pristine coastline interspersed with coconut trees, provides a breathtaking view of the surroundings.

Day2 - You can plan jog waterfalls it is around 2 hrs distance from Murudeswar. You can hire a car or taxi from there. The total cost is around 2K for personal cars. It will require a complete day to cover jog waterfalls.
Not visited due to lack of timing -
- Behind the temple complex of Murudeshwar, is a fort that finds its origins in the era of the Vijayanagara Kings. It is said to have been renovated after that by none other than Tipu Sultan.
- Nearby temples to Murudeshwara temple include Sri Mahabaleshwar Temple, Gokarna Idagunji Maha Ganapathi Temple, and Kollur Mookambika Temple.
